Edge of the Atlantic

A Women’s Canoe Expedition to the Labrador Sea

This summer, six women plan to paddle 1,000 kilometers across some of North America’s most remote waters to the Arctic Ocean — from Labrador City, NL to Kangiqsualujjuaq, QC.

Together, we’re charting a new route for our Foundation, strengthening the legacy of women in wilderness leadership, and raising support for the next generation of female adventurers.

Our Mission

We believe in the power of women leading in wild places.

Our mission is threefold:

  • Empower female paddlers through mentorship and visibility while propelling the next generation of Ogichi-Daa-Kwe leaders.
  • Explore a new Arctic canoe route for the Camping & Education Foundation, expanding the provinces in which we explore.
  • Conserve the Canadian Arctic by giving back to conservation and research efforts.

This journey isn’t just about reaching the Labrador Sea. It’s about leaving behind resources, stories, and inspiration that will serve the next generation of leaders, especially at the summer camp where we grew up, Camp Ogichi-Daa-Kwe.

The Expedition

When: July–August 2026

Duration: 35 days

Distance: 1,000 kilometers

Route: Wabush Lake → Shabogamo Lake & River → Ashuanipi River → Menihek Lake → Height of Land Crossing → De Pas River → River of the Great Bay (George River) → Kangiqsualujjuaq; Ungava Bay, Labrador Sea

This route represents new ground for our community, extending the legacy of Arctic canoe tripping into the east while staying true to the values of consistency, humility, and security.

An experience spanning boreal forests, rugged tundra, the George River caribou herd lands, and miles of technical whitewater.

Meet the Team

We’re a group of six women—expedition guides, outdoor enthusiasts, coworkers, and close friends. Each of us has spent the past 4+ years leading young women on multi-week canoe trips across Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
